South Zone Information

South Zone is for pupils who are educated off site for the whole or part of their timetable.

The majority of pupils in the South Zone are inducted via the city’s Alternative Pathways route from mainstream schools in Year 11.
This route is selected for pupils who will benefit from the key skills of English and maths being taught in a one to one (or two) situation by a personal tutor. As a result, they receive an individual programme matched to needs and will benefit from the development of personal and social skills promoted by this delivery.

The pupils will also be offered Home Cooking skills (onsite) and Saints Foundation which offers a mentoring and sports programme.
In addition, pupils will have time each week allocated to meet with their dedicated Safe Worker to support with advice and guidance regarding Post 16 opportunities, including work, apprenticeships and college options.

Pupils can also take part in off-site activities and courses such as:
• Barnes Boxing Academy (Boxercise and Fitness)
• Prince’s Trust, Access Programme (PSD, various outdoor and adventurous activities)
• BTEC workskills (outdoor and adventurous activities taking place at Woodmill
• SOCO (Creative Arts Award with a musical focus.)
• Workmobility (mechanical work)
• Work placements (various – determined by the interests of the pupil)

Our aim in the South Zone is to develop personal achievement in both academic and emotional terms so that the pupil is ready to progress onto the next appropriate pathway, whether that be reintegration to school or being prepared for post 16 opportunities.
