School SEN Information Report

Compass School is an inclusive provision focused on supporting children and young people to achieve their true potential in life.
Compass School provides an individualised programme to meet every pupil’s needs. The curriculum is differentiated and personalised to meet individual learning styles. The classes have high staff ratios allowing additional support to be given to pupils. We also provide nurture opportunities to develop pupil’s social and emotional skills.
Some children and young people require further support which may include the following:
Additional assessments, for example dyslexia screening tests
Targeted literacy and numeracy intervention programmes
Targeted nurture work
Personalised timetables
Emotional First Aid
10-13 Youth Project
Education, Health and Care Plans
As a school we work very closely with other agencies to support all aspects of a young person’s life. In discussion with parents referrals may be submitted to the Educational Psychology Service, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service and other agencies to provide additional strategies to support the young person.
If a young person has significant additional and complex needs an Education Health and Care Plan may be explored.
As a school we believe it is important to support the parents of children and young people with additional needs and have a team of SaFE (School and Family Engagement)  workers who make regular contact with parents and carers.

Kay Bundy is our Primary SENCo and Gemma Patrick is our Secondary SENco who will be happy to help and advise parents about support for pupils.
