Pupils in years 10 and 11 are studying for a BTEC QCF Level 1 Sport and Active Leisure Award 500/4990/2. Pupils will study two units for this award: Unit 11: How the Body Works – Learners will learn about the skeleton and the muscular system Unit 4: Taking Part in Sport – Learners will access the sports hall for the activities including 2 individual sports Badminton and Trampoline and two team sports Football and Basketball, as well as resources needed for analysis.


Pupils in Key Stage 3 will cover Outdoor Adventure Activities based at Woodmill Activity Centre. Activities will include rock climbing, abseiling, tunnelling, high ropes, low ropes, team challenges. The object of the activities is for pupils to bond as a tutor group and to learn to work together as a team. They need to incorporate good communication, listening skills, working together, empathy, support as well as challenging themselves individually and also as a group.
