Safer Internet Day

Safer internet

Tuesday 6th February is Safer Internet Day 2018 which is being celebrated globally.

The slogan this year is ‘Create, Connect and Share Respect: a better internet starts with you’.

The aim is to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology among children and young people.

The UK Safer Internet Centre has, once again, provided education packs that we can use to educate our young people to create a better internet by being kind and respectful to others online, by protecting their online reputations (and those of others), and by seeking out positive opportunities to create, engage and share online. Click here to access the education packs.

  • The information is broken down into 4 different age groups; 3-7, 7-11, 11-14 and 14-18.
  • There are lots of ideas for activities and also short TV clips.  The ‘quick activities’ have some short tasks which should engage our pupils.
  • For secondary pupils there is also a video of rap called Connections by Christian Foley (a spoken word artist and teacher) that puts across the key messages succinctly. The video is available here.
